HTC 7 Surround Review

DSC01799 560x420 HTC 7 Surround Review Recently, I got my paws on the HTC 7 Surround, a Windows Phone aimed at audiophiles with its glorious Dolby Digital surround sound speakers. I have had this phone for about a week, and I have to say I am quite impressed with Windows Phone 7. Like all current Windows Phones, it offers Xbox Live integration, Zune, and a neat and interesting Metro User Interface (UI). You also get the marketplace with a semi-decent selection of third-party applications. How well did things go for me? Let’s find out!

It showed features of the iPhone, like any iPhone commercial. What bothered me was the fact their campaign seems to be saying that iPhones can only do this, or that they are the best with the features. Let’s break this down.

Smartphones are just that- smart. Apps enable them to do to anything, and that includes dozens of ways of communicating that does not involve sticking the device close to your ear and talking aloud. Various IM services, social sites like Facebook and Twitter, email, IRC, text messages, forums, and last but not least Internet calling services like Skype. With all of these options available- most of which are a lot cheaper and more convenient than phone calls- do you still use your phone to place actual calls?
