With the recent announcement of Office 2013, it’s inevitable that a few new Office-related Windows Phone 8 features might surface. In a post on the Office Next blog entitled “Office and the Cloud,” John Jendrezak, a Partner Group Program Manager for Microsoft, revealed that Windows Phone 8′s Office Hub will incorporate many of the most exciting features in Office 2013.
The next generation of Microsoft’s Office suite, which hit the Customer Preview stage this week, includes new roaming settings which sync your preferences, custom dictionaries, templates, recent documents, last read location (used to resume reading or editing in the middle of a document), and much more between devices. This functionality will extend to Windows Phone 8 as well. While Jendrezak didn’t go into specifics, he did explicitly state that “Windows Phone will show you your recent files for one-touch access while you are on the go.” This, when combined with the new resume reading/editing feature, will make it easy to pick up where you left off when switching between devices.
The rest of the changes are still under wraps, but we wouldn’t be surprised if many of Office 2013′s features make their way to Windows Phone 8 as well. We’ll learn more as Microsoft discusses Windows Phone 8′s consumer features over the coming months.
