This week’s Xbox LIVE-enabled new release is Orbital, a space puzzle game. The basic premise is simple: soot a colorful object onto the game board to create a randomly sized circle. Every time the projectile hits an existing circle, said circle’s number goes down. Continue repeating this process, bouncing projectiles off of various circles. It’s essentially pinball in space, but you get to create the obstacles.
Shoot the orbs onto the playing field and watch them grow until they hit an obstacle and use the following orbs to destroy it. Hit every orb three times until it bursts into space and grants you one point to your highscore. Destroy as many orbs as you can but beware: The space on the playing field is limited so think hard about where you put the next one!
Developer BitForge has managed to create a polished and highly addicting game. The game is available on other mobile platforms too, but none offer Xbox LIVE achievements and leaderboards. Orbital is definitely worth the $2.99.
